i had a thought today that recurs from time to time about going to school to become a librarian. because i love to read. but really, library science looks so dull. what i really want to do is read and tell others about the great stuff that i've found, and get paid to do it.

i've thought that working for the utne reader would be great. they basically reprint things from other sources that someone has read and chosen and add a few original pieces in each issue. it'd be great to find something similar without all the political leanings that utne has. other than that,i'm not sure how i can get paid to do what i enjoy doing so much!

Yeah, librarians are all about weird stuff these days. They deal with "ontologies" and methods for marking trails through cyberspace and so forth. :-) All pretty abstract stuff that has little to do with books.
