the sensual sea

had a good morning. chatted on the phone with my sis sara for awhile. went out to the library to 'stock up' for labor day weekend. got some things that were a little different, for me anyway...a manga book and a phish cd. also got a bobbsey twins book, the borrowers by mary norton (loved it when i was a kid...about little people who borrow small items for furnishings..) and season one of scrubs.i take out lots of stuff that i never read/watch/listen to...but this way i have my own little stash to choose from.

i've been reading more on the internet than i thought i would, because i do love old fashioned books. but recently i started reading 'moby dick' on 24 words or something like that. can't recall what the site name is exactly. of course i haven't gotten very far,but i actually like that old fashioned prose. this is a big generalization, but it seems like a lot of old prose is more sensually descriptive. that's what i liked about philip pullman's writing, when i read the middle book of his dark materials trilogy. i know that sounds odd,but at the time we were having a blizzard and i had a free copy from work.

my bird friends have been scarce since they spent so much time with me during tropical storm irene. maybe it was the relative shelter of my balcony that was so inviting to them, and they overate. ha. they don't seem to have regular habits, but i can't say i do either!
