peace and support

i've got an idea, inspired by a note by [livejournal.com profile] ranunculus who was responding to a post by [livejournal.com profile] gurdonark.

for anyone who is for peace but also supports the soldiers that were sent to iraq,i had the idea to create a button that had a symbol of peace...a dove or a peace sign...with a yellow ribbon attached. i dont' think i'd have trouble finding a piece of yellow ribbon, but i'm not sure if it will be so easy to find a peace button.since i've done very little shopping for a while,i have no idea where i might look for such a thing and if they are available. any ideas?

I dunno where you could find a peace button...maybe Ebay, if you're not in too much of a hurry about it. but I think that's a great idea.

i made a braided ribbon bracelet out of two colors: yellow and white (i associate the color of white with peace). i'm also making safety pin jewelry, stringing seed beads in a pattern of a peace sign. i don't have exact links, but i found the patterns by typing in "safety pin jewelry" on google, if you're interested in making one. you could make one of these, and pin a yellow ribbon on it. i just need to buy some more safety pins and seed beads for mine!

also, here's an idea: armbands for peace (http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=1481). i tried making one, but my ribbon was too thin. so, if you make one of these, i suggest thick ribbon!
