what are brains for?

i do some of my best thinking when driving to work, listening to music...because my hyper brain is busy and amused, the good stuff can sneak through.

i ponder that our brains might be for asking questions and being receptive to the answers, but not for actually creating the answers. well, that thought just 'came' to me anyway...ha.

Speaking of brains and driving....

Have you ever arrived at work or some other destination that you travel on a regular basis... and then when you pull into the parking lot... wonder how you got there, because you don't remember the drive?

Shiver!

That happens to me far more than I would like- it frightens me! A psychologist friend explained it to me in terms of the 'flow' concept: our brains are only partly aware of what we are doing because it is an habitual act so frees the remaining thoughts to 'flow' with random thought. It is actually believed by cognitive theorists to be the brain's most creative state and much work is currently being done to understand and harness this mental state to boost creative abilities. Still scares me though, when i get somewqhere with no memory of going..:)
