whale rider
today my sister sara and i went to see 'whale rider'. my first comment immediately after the movie was 'wow.'.
this movie is beautiful in more ways than one.i cried through most of it. great characters,a glimpse into a culture unknown to me (maori new zealand),and lots of good acting. some of the story was 'predictable' and yet...not in the way it was done.it could be considered a 'girl power' movie but to me it was about change. what it said to me was that the universe/God likes change and supports it.
edit: i also think it's about embracing both the past and the future; the traditional and the new.
