(no subject)

here's an example of one of those extremely slow (we're talking about five entire minutes or so) loading pages i was talking about yesterday. anyone want to give it a try and let me know how long it took to load for you? maybe it's just me with my webtv browser.

i have cable, and the page refused to load all the way. i just checked LJ Status and saw this:

LiveJournal Status Report:

The site is experiencing some slowness and delays on posts. We're working on fixing it as quickly as we can.

Also, userpics are also being fixed.

i'm inclined to believe its lj slowness as it loaded fairly quickly (30 sec) on my dial-up. thanks for the link tho as the entry for 8.15 was very cool :D

About 5 seconds, on cable.

It could be that WebTV is just very slow to render CSS. The design uses a lot of CSS.

I, too, have cable and it was very quick ... loaded right up within seconds.

I don't know what CSS is either, but a friend filled me in a little. It's like an alternative to HTML. Here's a site about it, but I don't know how informative it'll be for what you want to know:

CSS is the latest way of displaying web pages, and all browsers should support it. However, I think the WebTV browser is pretty old and may have trouble doing it quickly.

Try visiting places like CSS Zen Garden (http://www.csszengarden.com/), which are CSS design havens, and see what the time required to render them is.

I have comcast cable... and it loaded very quickly. :( Sorry... I hope you can get it checked out and come up with a better solution.

It loaded in about 20 seconds on dial up for me, but I think LJ is having some problems.
