Finally, finally, someone else who loves "Into the West." Another great Irish film is "The Field."

oh, that he does. his Nobody was the best part of the film. "some are born to sweet delight/ some are born to endless night." he is really a brilliant actor. did you see him in Smoke Signals? smaller role, but very well done.

let me think... imdb.com lists his films (below). i think the only other film i've seen him in was a rather poor adaptation of a tony hillerman mystery, The Dark Wind, starring (improbably) lou diamond phillips as navajo detective jim chee. farmer had a small part but was, as always, completely likable.

i must say it's a delight to run into another Farmer fan! :)

Bringing Down the House is pretty cool. I'd also suggest Head of State.

But if you want a movie that'll make you think, go rent Solaris.

An oldie, but one I find inspiring is "Dead Poet Society."

Inspiring? Hmm.
The one with the kid, and Rosie O'Donnell, Dennis Leary... um...

*goes to look it up*

Wide Awake 1998
Directed by
M. Night Shyamalan

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It's PG and so probably in the Family section, but it's worth checking out if you're looking for something inspiring.

Inspirational movie?

This isn't inspirational in the usual "It's a wonderful life" type way (not that I'm knocking that film, it's one of my faves), it's actuallly quite dark, disturbing and fucked up, but if you're interested in buddhism, "Jacob's Ladder" is great...
