windmills and whirligigs

i just joined a community called [livejournal.com profile] interests. i think it's a great idea. you write a little essay about an interest or interests that is on your list.

here is the first post i wrote for that community:

i love a gentle and even on a warm summer day,a more brisk wind. i don't list 'wind' as an interest because it just doesn't convey what i like about it. maybe, just to make myself laugh,i'll add 'air' to my list. sometimes the summer heat gets to me,but what a difference a benevolent breeze makes!

i love it when the wind blows through my hair or on my face. i often will just close my eyes and enjoy the moment.i love it when it blows the curtains into a room, and when it rustles the leaves.

i'm not so fond of it during the cold winter, but the wind can't be blamed for that!

the west wind is called a zephyr and that's one of my favorite words.

i particularly love the 'montreal express' in summertime...cool dry air
coming in from canada.

while taking a walk during the lilac time of spring,it's the breeze that brings the scent of the neighbors' lilacs to me. that's heavenly.

whirligig is a cool word too.

and windmills...well,first it makes me think of the netherlands and tulips and hans brinker and then of course of don quixote. i can certainly understand tilting at windmills. one has to have hope, after all, foolish or not.

i like opinions, too, which of course is just one more good reason to have joined this community.

aloha.

I love whirligigs and windmills. Always have. Something about watching wind move a kinetic piece of art is so entrancing.
