i've got laundry and other stuff to do but i'm sitting here getting eyestrain looking at a photocopied genealogy that's written in french. well, that doesn't matter too much since it's mostly names.
both of my parents' parents were from huge families on one side, even though both mom and dad only have/had one sibling each.
here's my mother's mother's natal family:
augustine (lemire) married eugene desilets in nicolet, quebec on april 4,1888.
and now the kids:
anaisse nov. 4,1889
corinne dec. 19,1890
antoinette(my grandmother) may 13,1892
azilda nov. 14,1893
albert sept. 11,1895
albertine sept. 11,1896*
philippe may 24,1898
edouard, july 24,1902 (uncle eddie the priest who went back to live in canada even though the rest of the family moved to manchester, new hampshire somewhere in the early 1900's)
germaine may 30,1904 (she was a cool gemini! we had a lot of fun together before she died in the mid-80's.)
paul jan 30,1906
maurice (date is smudged)
cecile dec. 6,1908
somewhere after that,my great-grandfather died and afterwards is when the whole family migrated to manchester, new hampshire. the older kids, including my grandmother, went to work in the mills.
i think corinne died as an infant, though.my mother said her grandmother was fat and 'she had no lap' but she loved her grandkids and was a good-natured old lady.(amazing after having 12 kids, losing her husband, and moving to a new country.i guess i didn't inherit her good disposition!) either my aunt or grandmother told me that the older kids were each 'assigned' one of the younger kids to look after. i wish i'd asked more questions of my grandmother and great-aunts when they were still alive, but at least i know more than about the ancestors on dad's side, about which i know very little.

*that's pretty freaky. i didn't know they were born exactly one year apart...so that's why they named her albertine! how goofy!
