the gutter or a broken spirit? where's the third way?

i like how he put that. i wonder if it's true. i dream a lot,and sometimes get a little inspired,but not often enough to DO anything. especially not the things that life has decided are mine to do.
right now i'm not sure if just accepting things as they are,as much as i dislike them,is best or if i should keep trying to change things,which usually just means being disappointed because i so often fail,which makes me feel worse,after the hope initially makes me feel better.
reach for the stars,only to fall off the cliff and not have the energy to try again or just learn to love being in the gutter?
