this land

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

they don't teach you this line in grade school when you're singing woody guthrie's 'this land is your land'.

of course,we shouldn't forget that this land was stolen by the ancestors of some of us from the people who already lived here. and now there's just a very small number of greedy folks who just want to make sure that the apocalypse happens according to their plan,so they can be 'raptured',but in the meantime, they're turning a blind eye to suffering that is already around them, and hurting mother earth even more...what do they care? they think they'll be gone soon,so who cares about everyone else? these are the so-called christians who forgot about 'love thy neighbor as thyself'.

In school systems across teh country they also forget to teach that custer was an asshole who killed Indians by the dozen and Deserved everything he got at little Big horn...also that he was out guned and should have known better to take on to take on them in the first place...

they don't teach alot of things they should in schools... that's why kids are so much dumber then they were 10 years ago...

I'm a history Purest... I hate it when they spin it to the winning sides veiw point...

Amazing... yes... this land... the world...
I was just thinking along the lines of simular thoughts... listening for the first time really... to the "older" holiday song "Feed the World" (regarding Africa) and it made me shiver. How narrow we see sometimes... how smug some can allow themselves to become. Thank you for sharing this.

I actually think kids are learning a lot more than they used to...they dont even make a big deal out of Columbus Day anymore. At least they are starting to tell part of the whole truth and not just the glorified version.

This is a major problem I have with many Christians and churches. They ignore that we are called to be stewards ... that we're asked to take care of what we've been allowed to handle (the earth, animals, etc.) And I've heard that argument too ... that the rapture will happen soon anyway, so it doesn't matter what we do to the planet.
