jingle bell rock
is it my imagination or are radio stations playing more christmas tunes this year? i think there are three stations, including an oldies stations,in my frequency that are doing all christmas all-the-time.if i was jewish or muslim i might be annoyed. though i suppose the majority of americans are christians and/or celebrate christmas.
jingle bell rock is my favorite.
and in keeping with the seasonal motif,i'm wondering if i should buy some thermal underwear to wear to bed at night.
if i get too cold,i can't sleep.i've added an extra blanket to my bed and taken to wearing two layers of clothing at night, but the furnace was still running a lot last night, even though i put it as low as i could stand it. i guess if i could stand it lower,my propane bill would be lower.i think i'm going to be in shock when i get my next bill. so,maybe thermal underwear shopping is in order. i haven't worn thermal underwear since i went to school 'up north'.
i really want to believe in astrology as being a useful tool in life, but i'm losing more and more faith in it. for instance,i was wondering if it was mercury retrograde, because recently i've had to have my pilot light relit, had a question about my water heater, and had my car do weird things.
well,i got up early this morning,at an unprecedented 7:30,so i could bring my car to the garage to be thoroughly inspected. because last night when i was driving home,i heard a loud clanging noise, sounding like thin metal making a racket, and i assumed it was a hubcap,so i decided not to stop and check,as it was late and cold and i didn't think a hubcap was worth stopping for. nevertheless,a short time later,i did pull over in the supermarket parking lot to have a look and was rather disturbed to find i still had four hubcaps. so,what the hell? my exhaust pipe, which is practically brand new as i had the whole exhaust system replaced a few months back, had not fallen off. nothing was hanging. my car felt and sounded fine. still, not knowing was disturbing. and i wish i'd stop to see what it was. it was probably someone else's hubcap that flew off and hit my car,as i was on a four lane road, two lanes one way.
anyway,my nice mechanic, even though he was having an incredibly busy day, made time to check out my car because i was nervous about driving it to work without knowing everything was okay.
that was really nice of him,and i was going to have him do a safety inspection when i have my new tires put on,because my car is ten years old and i think it wise to check older cars a couple of times a year, rather than the one required by the state. so i voluntarily do it. years ago,any car older than 8 years,i think,or maybe it was six,had to be inspected twice a year in new hampshire. i think that was wise, because old cars are, well, old. i dont like to think of sharing the road with lots of other old cars that are only inspected once a year,or people who have unsafe cars but 'buy off' someone to get an inspection sticker and take their chances. and when you take your chances, you're most likely involving other people,as how often does anyone have the road to themselves? speaking of which, with my new hours, the traffic both ways of my commute is worse. i miss my late-night empty road. oh,well. i'm finding in many ways it's nice to be up earlier in the day,and my work day even seems to go by faster this way.
my point was...it isn't mercury retrograde right now. it's going to start in two weeks! so how valid is that?
oh,and my mechanic said i also may have hit some piece of tin in the road. i didn't see anything, but it was dark. but how would a piece of tin get in the road? what an amazing world this is.
i'm going to eat lunch.

My guess would be that your problems have more to do with colder weather than with the alignment of any planets.
As for Christmas music: The local classical station's playing lots of it, but I'm not sure what the pop stations are doing. I know I'm soon going to get tired of hearing it every time I go to the drug store.

I love The Little Drummer Boy and I just heard it on our New York City station that is playing all Christmas songs - 102.7
Cheers~!

I know what you mean about the radio stations. One here went Christmas music-only in the middle of December. Another had done so by that weekend, and then it began: "Your original Christmas music station!" "The best Christmas music station!" There's something so very un-Christmasy about that...
As I understand astrology, Mercury is about communications, and affects technology mainly in the ways in which technology affects communication--so during a retrograde, you could expect your net connection to go on the fritz, your cellphone battery to die unexpectedly, your cable to go out, and that kind of thing.
We always have pilot light problems this time of year though, just because of the change of weather.
