red sea road trip
today was mom-visiting day. but it was also president's day,and since two of my sisters are more special than me (at least according to our respective employers),they had a holiday today, whereas it's just my usual day off. nevertheless,it was nice because we went and visited mom together, which makes it easier. and i got to hang out at my sister sara's(
solarfields) place in petit canada. i parked my car in the drugstore parking lot down the hill and walked up a little hill to where she lives. i had to walk uphill on ice, which is almost as good as walking on water. well, ahem,it sort of IS walking on water.just frozen water. but even frozen water isn't easy to walk on. amazingly,i did not fall.
sara's place is amazing. it's like a romany vardo without the wheels. it's colorful and arty and full of books and music and a few dvds and videos. and her mac, which i think is very pretty. i'm especially fascinated by its mouth/dvd tray. made me giggle. i asked sara where the burned cds pop out and she pushed a bottom and the drawbridge lowered. cool! yes,i am easily amused.
it was really nice to spend some time with sara and rachel. and it was nice to see sunny, who owns sara. she at first ignored me but when i proved friendly (i guess she forgot who i was!) she wanted to sit on my lap forever.
we were chatting about many things, and i asked if they knew about the country of nutopia. they hadn't,and called me a living encyclopedia,or something like that. hey,i've been called worse! perhaps i'm more a living, breathing trivial pursuit deck, though. anyhow,i told them i'd send them a link about it,and while searching for it when i got home,i found this:
peace event for john lennon
yes,it's yoko ono week here in my live journal!
anyway, sara was driving rachel to the bus station and we stopped at the drugstore near where i parked for the specific purpose of taking advantage of the post-valentine's day candy sale. there was lots of good stuff. i got a few things which totaled $1.08,so you can see i didn't go toooo crazy. rachel remarked that chocolate gives her heartburn and i said 'me too'. not that we're going to stop eating it! why stop snorting cocaine just because it gives you a deviated septum? it feels so good!
which reminds me. i eat sugar, especially chocolate, to feed that nagging void in my soul. of course it doesn't work, but it's a temporary distraction. rachel and sara came up for a word for what we really need: soulspackle.
my sisters are so cool; can you tell i think so?
i brought them some magazines that i saved from the dumpster at work as well as a cool indian mandala calendar i got for half-price for sara (i rarely buy presents-don't have enough money to buy for my entire large family, and it's not fair to buy for some and not others-but i couldn't resist). i also brought rachel a free cd that i also saved from the dumpster. one of those freebies that comes with a magazine.
sara burned me a really cool cd. i had mentioned i loved the song 'moses' by coldplay but didn't know how to get that song (i think it's on a cd that comes with a dvd,and since i'm not really a coldplay fan,i didn't really want to buy all that for the one song, even though i adore it.) she mentioned that she had it as she got it from itunes,so she could put it on a cd for me.she also put a bunch of other great things on it.
of course i came home and cranked up 'moses'. ahhh. looove that song. that guitar...and it's sooo...epic.
the second song i listened to was 'the steward of gondor' from the rotk soundtrack which has billy boyd (pippin) singing. lovely. and then 'into the west' by annie lennox, another song from the same soundtrack, made me cry.
then i listened to the rest of it. it's great. now i have a nice new batch of songs to listen to,and i can listen to 'moses' any ole time i want to. that's the life.

Romany Vardo? What a compliment!
Seeing nutopia written makes me thinks it's a utopia for nuts perhaps? :D Am I wrong?
oui is the answer
hey,in a way nutopia is a utopia for nuts...
Nutopia {1}
According to the liner notes for his album "Mind Games," ex-Beatle John Lennon founded the "conceptual country" of Nutopia on April Fool's Day, 1973. This was in the midst of his legal troubles with the U.S. immigration authorities, and he declared himself a citizen of Nutopia, claimed diplomatic immunity, and demanded a seat at the U.N. According to Lennon, Nutopia was a country without borders or passports, and citizenship could be obtained "by declaration of your awareness of NUTOPIA." The country had no laws except for "cosmic" ones. The album also contains the Nutopian International Anthem, which consists of three seconds of silence. [Information courtesy Michael S. Carpenter.]
addendum
We announce the birth of a conceptual country , Nutopia.
Citizenship of the country can be obtained by declaration of your awareness of Nutopia.
Nutopia has no land , no boundries , no passports , only people.
Nutopia has no laws other than cosmic .
All people of Nutopia are ambassadors of the country .
As two ambassadors of Nutopia , we ask for diplomatic immunity and recognition in the United Nations of our country and its people.
