a see change
got my new glasses today.i look even geekier,i think. well, really, they aren't much different than my last pair,so i probably don't look geekIER,just geeky as usual. hopefully i'm still cute. ha.
my eyes feel tired which is weird...you'd think stronger lenses would be easier on the eyes, but i know my eyes feel funny when adjusting to new glasses. things look sharper,EXCEPT for text in books, which is not good. i have to hold the book further away so i dont' squint. oh,well,i was glad i didn't have to get bifocals yet,but next time i'm sure i will. that is,unless i go totally blind in the meantime. i'm supposed to have some test to see if there are any tears (pronounced tares) in the lenses of my eye. i hope not. but i don't know what happens if i do. oh,well.
i'm squinting reading my screen, but it's probably because my eyes are tired. it will be nice to watch a dvd and have it not be all blurry.
speaking of dvds,i just signed up for a free trial of netflix. i've been watching my lovely set of 10 'band of brothers' episodes for about five months now...yikes!...and so decided i wanted to watch something new,and i wanted something with good characters and it had to be a tv show,so you could really get into the characters. so i bought myself OZ season 1 as an early birthday present. i hadn't even seen it,but i wanted something new to watch,so i looked around and chose that and took a gamble. well,i'm liking it a lot. i wonder how true it is to prison life. so of course i had to get some books on that topic at the library today. they didn't have much, but i got three books. one is called the end of imprisonment by robert sommer, published in 1976. i assume it's ideas about rehabilitating criminals,or something like that.
so anyhow,i'm getting season 2 and three from netflix. and apparently there were six seasons, though only three are on dvd,so i have lots to look forward to. i don't have cable,if you're wondering. i only get one local broadcast channel, which is an abc affiliate, and i rarely watch that. check the weather on the news, and watch the occasional oprah, that's it.
damn,i was just looking at the book and having a hard time reading it. sometimes i do have this problem adjusting my eyes between reading my screen, which is about two feet away (i have a wireless keyboard and webtv,so the screen is my tv) and a book. and once in a while when my eyes are tired, things get blurrier. i should just not worry. i have to keep telling myself that worrying is a waste of time. i'm working on finding ways for my mind to be an asset to me,as it's supposed to be,and not a liability. i think the mind is like a bratty but well-meaning child (i think the huna concept of the 'ku' is similar to that) that needs discipline,so i'm trying that and had a bit of success last week, though i'm not claiming victory yet,as i don't know if it was just that my hormones were doing better last week,or whatever.
i also got a couple of tom robbins books out, just to enjoy his writing. it's a treat, just the way he writes. and i got anne lamott's 'traveling mercies',which my sister sara
solarfields just checked out of HER library,as well.
heh.i just switched to my old glasses. figured i've give the eyes a rest from adjusting for a bit. and it's MUCH easier to read with these glasses, but the screen's blurrier. i don't want to be switching glasses back and forth all the time, though, but maybe for a couple of days,to gradually get used to the new ones. getting old is so much fun! wheeeee!
i think it's time to stop procrastinating and brush and floss,do dishes and my last load of laundry,sooo...

i like sister peter marie a lot...right now she's gone, but i'm hoping she'll be back. for some reason,i think nuns are so cool...i love 'em! well,i went to catholic school and didn't like all the nuns, but now that i'm older,i just admire them for being nuns in this day and age.
so far,i also like the female guard. don't know all the names yet! and the muslim leader guy. i love the fact that they are 'peaceful' because that is what true islam is supposed to be. makes me wonder about malcolm x,though. i thought he was violent, and maybe he was. anyhow...
i like the priest and i didn't like ryan o'reilly at first, but he's growin' on me. we'll see.
so far i'm pretty impressed with hbo, between OZ and BOB!
also,i wanted to let you know i asked my sister to download a few more of your icons...one has toye.
: )
i put a thank you on my user info page and link to your lj...or would you prefer i link to your website? or both? let me know...i'm grateful you made so many icons and share them!
oh,and on OZ kirk looks so skinny. is it my imagination or did he fill out by the time he played toye?
