d-day--voices of valor

i got this really cool book at the library called voices of valor:d-day;june 6.1944 by douglas brinkley and ronald j. drez. it includes 2 audio cds of interviews with d-day veterans in addition to a very thorough text. there's separate sections for omaha and utah beaches (the two beaches that the americans landed on),a special section just for the rangers, the british glider invasion(which i didn't know about),the airborne invasion, the air and sea armadas and a separate section on gold, juno and sword beaches.i think juno was the canadians and sword and gold were the brits.

i think my friend wendy at work is amused by my fascination with d-day. i mean,it's just ONE day. but a hell of a lot happened on that day,so,yes,i'm a d-day geek. maybe someday i'll get to visit normandy and brittany, where most of my ancestors hailed from.
