safe at home! ---O_O---*
just here on lj amusing myself. lalala.
well,i tried to go to work today. heck,it was snowing on thurs and dubiously wet/possibly slippery on my drive home but i made it...though not in a very relaxed fashion. but i could have been worse. at least i made it to work.
so,today i started out for work and i'm behind a snowplow. why is it that the road is worse behind the snowplow? i think it's because the plow flattens out the safe little grooves other cars have made and also creates a flat surface with no traction. anyway,i knew this, and at one point i went to slow down a little, slower than 20 mph! and guess what? i couldn't control my car! surprise! and whose to say if i'd be following a snowplow at any point during my commute? and my car is pretty good in the snow.
so of course i turned into the nearby supermarket plaza, bought some chips and ben and jerry's (and bananas and salad greens and toilet paper, and,uh,cookie dough) and came home. luckily i made it home without mishap and had no one close behind me when i had to turn onto my street. when i did i just stepped on it a bit and actually the car straightened itself out(yay front-wheel drive! though of course it doesn't help if there is something in front and on the sides and therefore you need to stop)...kinda cool, but i only did that because there was no one else on the road. i am relieved to be 'safe at home' (knocking over the catcher was rather fun. heh.)
ah,anyway...
now i can stay home and read and...whatever the hell i feel like doing!
yippee!
before leaving for work,i had my only tv channel on for the latest weather info, and i was watching some pro basketball and found it a bit interesting. all those talllll people! but i also was amazed at how bad they were playing...they're pros! this was the ny knicks and cleveland cavaliers. well, just my opinion. i suppose their offense is better than high school players, but so would be the defense.

*my ascii (is that the right term?) rendition of an umpire. laugh if you must. i'm not a cyber-michelango...not even a cyber-picasso.

well, to be pedantic...
Re: well, to be pedantic...
no subject
i babble on
this is what i'd write right now:
ten current favorite songs:
nearer than heaven-delays
long time coming-delays
don't panic-coldplay
moses-coldplay
ghost in you-psychedelic furs
ha,i can't even think of ten! i listen to all sorts of stuff, and the first three of those four are on a compilation my sister made for me. i've really gotten to like the delays. i haven't bought much music lately, but that does not reflect my intense love of music. some folks have lots of music but aren't as intense as i.i dont have a computer but i would like to have one so i can get itunes etc. i'm clueless about some stuff, and know about other things few people do.
the last three albums i bought are u2's how to dismantle an atomic bomb (love that title, not to mention the cd), the best of the monkees, and the soundtrack from seabiscuit. now i want the soundtrack from hero, which i just watched last week.
as for 10 bands that are a good example of my musical taste?
u2 is my top favorite, and has been for quite some time.
coldplay
old-school r.e.m.
new order
geez,i would fail miserably if i applied there. i also listen to some world music...recently i got some egyptian and russian gypsy music. i like some musicals...pippin is a favorite. i like some folk,i like linkin park, mostly musically because i don't really like the lyrics much---i find them too depressing. and a lot of soundtrack music. recently got a 'lounge' compilation. i especially like the bongo stuff and i totally shocked my dad AND myself when i told him i've acquired a taste for lawrence welk and that ilk. more music to enjoy.
i think i have some pretty cool interests, though i did notice that the only music-related ones listed are morrissey, moses by coldplay (i was obsessed with that song for a long time),and space age pop.
so,hey,i forgot to mention morrissey. he's one of the few whose lyrics i like better than the music, though i do like the smiths music, but really only love the music on morrissey's first solo lp that he did with stephen street. after that, the music is okay, but i love morrissey's sense of humor.
certainly it's fine that you added me. i'm not certain what seems interesting to you,but considering i do have a wide range of interests, there must be something!
thanks for leaving a note and aren't you lucky you got this longass reply? ha.
