a little ephiphany

i was just listening to r.e.m.'s 'flowers of guatemala' and having my typical ecstatic reaction to how it sounds, when i realized that i truly feel music, not just hear it. i don't know if that's an example of synaesthasia* or just pretty normal, but it felt like an apocalypso to me!

i know i didn't spell that right, but spellcheck couldn't help me...it's when people taste colors or other things that tend to 'cross' what we consider the borders of sensory experience

You got pretty close: "synaesthesia" or "synesthesia." :) And I think I do the same thing, though I'm so ignorant about the technical aspects of music that's hard for me to understand any part of my reaction to it.

I used to love R.E.M!
