happy equinox/welcome constant apocalypso!
feeling good at the moment and went manic in the bookstore. oh,well,i could do worse.i initially went into the local bookstore to get myself a copy of the bbc sherlock. yeah,i've watched it and like many others am hooked and enjoy feasting my eyes on the beautiful talent of benedict cumberbatch. in that i am not alone! ha.
i also found a very inexpensive dvd/cd set of nature sounds and relaxing music. i think this might help me to fall asleep. i had been looking for something like that, and this was a perfect find. it has soothing waves, gentle rain, ocean rhythms (don't know how that is different from waves, but maybe it's underwater sounds of mammals singing...that would be cool), and rushing river.
then i peeked into the literature section of the bookstore and could not resist '500 essential cult books' ( i'm fascinated by cult anything, because it's things that are strongly loved, intensely but not universally) and 'uylsses and us: the art of everyday life in joyce's masterpiece' by declan kiberd. i read bits of it and was hooked. i also almost bought one more book from the lit section (and now i can't recall what it was, which is too bad because i want to check it's availability through the library...ah,it will come back to me).
having just recently commented that i have trouble reading but love it,maybe i just have to reconcile myself to reading really really slow. i've read about four pages in james hillman's 'kinds of power' and it is brilliant...granted,it is a little challenging to comprehend, but that's not the biggest problem with my reading attention...if there seems to be no point in it (for me,that's a lot of fiction) and/or i don't like the prose,it's too much work. it would behoove me to just go with the flow and enjoy what i can. i'm just driving myself nuts being frustrated over the good chunk of time i have trouble enjoying things. i will enjoy when i can. if happiness is like a butterfly that you can't chase, but have to wait for to alight on you when you can quiet yourself,i think i'm both bad at being quiet and there are fewer butterflies than there used to be.
the former is more likely, but the latter is possible too. apocalypse has it's good and bad aspects. i think rob breszny calls it the apocalypso. i like that.
