sunny

wow. where has the summer gone? well,it's not really gone yet, especially weatherwise. too much dampness, too much humidity. this is the world

i have a new roommate since mid july. my sister had to move to new york state to live with one of my other sisters (i have four, lucky me,and i do not mean that sarcasticly at all) and since there was already one cat there,i offered to take care of one of her cats for the time being. so,sunny is my new buddy. i love cats, but there are some things i do not like doing. read, mostly, litter box duty. nevertheless, sunny is a very companionable cat and one of the few cats that you can call for, like a dog. she responds to her name, which delights me. she's a pretty smart cat. her life revolves around food,or not eating as much as we want, like mine does. ha.

her adjustment hasn't been too bad for her,i don't think.  we've known each other for twelve years, since my sis sara adopted her. we've always liked each other. she has turned the laptop carry bag that i almost never use into her personal catbed. she's an excellent purrer. she actually trusted me enough the other day to help her get her paw unstuck from the sofa without slashing me while she was in pain. she's got a scratching surface, but doesn't seem to understand how it works,so i may need to get another type of scratching post for her.

using my icon of my dad and his kitty goldie from back in the late forties,i think. dad's birthday was august eighth, though he's not here anymore. he always loved cats, and we usually had a outdoor/indoor cat when i was growing up. one of our first cats was a stray he found lingering around the post office where he worked. her name was tillie. then she had kittens, and we kept one of her offspring, named dandy. then they both had litters at the same time, and i think somewhere in there we must have gotten those kitties fixed.

this morning i was awakened by an air vehicle i thought was gonna land on my building. well,it was a helicopter, and it was really loud. somehow, sunny slept through that, though i know she has really sharp hearing. it looked liked some kind of medevac helicopter, and i have no idea what it was doing, but the noise scared the hell out of me. and so,enough of my rambling for now. i just wanted to make a post.

I have had cats that come when called and respond to their name, too. :-) A couple. Most that I have known don't. Although cats like me because I have picked up some of their procedures and most people don't bother to do so.

Strange cats don't usually directly approach each other. They come at odd angles, so they seem to like it when people do that, too. Also they like to have you come at them from slightly below when they don't know you.
