bye bye chocolate. *sob*

mom came up to me and very carefully enunciated:

thank you for taking me to the store.

i should feel like a shit but i don't. i told her she was very welcome and i apologized again for having a hissy fit, because i told her i knew it wasn't her fault. i lose my temper, but i rarely stay mad, thank goodness. i also told her it's a good thing she's MY mother and i'm not hers, because i have so little patience and she laughed.

even though i only mentioned last evening's short temper to my sister and not today's,she wrote back very supportively for me to not feel bad about getting mad at mom. she knows how frustrating it can be! so i know it's not mom's fault she forgets things. and i'm not evil because i lose patience either.

i'm in fairly good spirits at the moment but i've got stomach discomfort (surprise!)

well, very soon i will have eaten all the chocolate in the house and then i am going to try very hard to not eat if for a month, because i suspect that may be causing my troubles. it seems silly, but i probably have gotten very sensitive in my old age. actually,it's well known that chocolate causes acid reflux. the tricky thing is,that it seems to me to be a cumulative effect. i don't just eat chocolate once and get sick.
it would be easier to motivate myself to stop eating it if i did. but i think it slowly weakens the LES (lower esophagal sphincter...isn't this educational?) so that it doesnt' shut properly over time. by the same token,i'm speculating that one has to stop eating chocolate for awhile before it fixes itself,if indeed it is going to. i think last time i quit chocolate for two weeks and still felt like crap so i went back to eating it,which of course probably eventually made it worse. of course, this is all guesswork...i've been trying to figure out my problem for over a year in addition to going to doctors.

i may possibly have greater success quitting chocolate while taking wellbutrin because i found i am less likely to snack...and that might be because i am not so frequently feeling emotionally horrible. we'll see how it goes when i'm back at work. i sometimes eat when bored at work too. when i'm bored at home,i can find something to amuse myself. obviously,at work i have to do my job and if i'm bored with it,well...too bad. anyway,we'll see.

i'm sick of being sick!

Make sure that it's the chocolate that you're allergic to and not the milk in milk chocolate...

Wow! I didn't know chocolate could do that. I wonder why it does that. Anyway, it's weird that it does.
Good luck giving it up btw.

Oh, I don't know if you get Schawns in your area or not but check them out. My Dad is diabetic too and loves fudge bars too. He really likes the ones Schawns makes. Their website is: www.schwans.com
Maybe if they deliver in your area you can try 'em out. If your Mom likes 'em, stock up on 'em. :)

What chocolate have you been eating? Try dark instead of milk chocolate, its worth the extra $$, has less sugar, and actual health benefits.
