sure,you can understand this.i want to do more studying,but i think that lallans is a cross between old english and gaelic.i think it's the gaelic that makes it so pretty,and it's because of the gaelic that so many folks love the sound of scottish accents,as well as irish ones (i'm not so familiar with welsh accents or the other gaelic-influenced areas...there's always more to learn!

a few years back i bought a wee scots dictionary and a friend and i were looking through it.
this was our favorite word:

hochmagandy (pronounced hoCH-ma-gan-dee...stress on the 'gan')

i'm not going to tell you what it means but don't confuse it with hogmanay,which is the scots name for new year's eve.
