breakdowns,nervous and otherwise

when i got into my car last night after work, things started to freak out.i'll try to keep the details to a minumum, but my car would barely accelerate at first and then it would just kick in and kind of 'leap'. once my car got going,it was not too bad, though it still did this weird bucking thing off and on,and every time i stopped at a light and started again,it would feel like it had very little power and would shudder until it seemed to 'kick in' again.
also,i could have sworn i heard a snapping or creaking sound right under my accelerater pedal at one point, which is very strange.

this,to put it mildly,is pretty upsetting.it looks like i will probably not get to work today, because i don't think i can keep driving around like that...i drive home from work around midnight and i really don't want to break down.i can call aaa,but i have no one to call to pick ME up if i get towed.so i will have to bring it to the garage and who knows how long it will take to fix or what it is,or if it's even worth it (my car is 8 years old) though my finances are very bad right now so i don't know what i'll do. i'm trying to remain calm.ha.

and THEN,i throw in a load of laundry this morning, and i am walking by the machine and i hear a high pitched whine and it isn't doing anything.so i shut the thing off and back on and IT kicks in. a few minutes later i walk by and i smell a burning smell coming from the machine.s**t.i shut it off and pondered, and then put it back on again.the smell has faded but all i can think of is burned out motor though it could be a belt if washing machines have those.since it got 'stuck' it probably had some unexpected friction or something. the machine got 'stuck' one more time so i shut it off and on again. sounds like some kind of timing thing which it seems to me i had fixed in the last couple of years. one time we had to have something so major done they hauled the machine down to their shop, which was a real pain for them because it's a washer/dryer stack unit.
anyway,i just called the repair guy and he said he thought the whirlpool stack unit is a direct drive,so it wouldn't have a belt.he said to try another load and if it happened again,to call,or they could come over without me trying another load, but i think i'll try it one more time first! he said maybe it will magically go away, which kind of made me laugh to hear a repairperson say that...that's my kind of thinking! this washing machine problem may right itself, but i somehow don't think the car problem will.

every time i feel bummed out about a problem...and they seem to happen a lot...i go for chocolate.it wouldn't be a big deal except chocolate makes acid get into my esophagus, which is a very bad thing.(it doesn't do this to everybody, but it does to me!) if i reached for alcohol for solace,i'd be killing my liver (though maybe not...i try to stay away from chocolate and don't have it every day all day long as some alcoholics do with booze.)

i'd like to ask my therapist how to deal with upsets without chocolate and ask my doctor if it really is that bad for me and what could be the long term consequences.

geez.it's just so weird to have two major mechanical things go buggy on ya in the space of 24 hours.what the heck is going on? i often think it's some kind of astrological influence, though those things never seem very accurate to me,except for maybe the craziness of full moons!

and the icing on the cake is the result of the recent elections. let me just say that i'm not a big fan of the bush administration and the republican agenda in general and leave it at that.
as far as i'm concerned,we're off to hell in a handbasket.

well,have a nice day!

My car started doing that once. We found out it was running out of Transmission fluid. So check on that, it could be that simple. But I really don't know anything about cars, so we could the complete opposite problems.
