it wasn't as bad as i thought it might be. the snowplow guy arrived around 8 a.m. and blared his horn so we'd all run out and clear off and move our cars. that time of the morning is pretty damned early for me,but of course i knew this would happen and i had a relaxing and boring christmas day (i had thought of going down the road to see 'two towers' while i actually had a holiday off,but it was really blizzard conditions,and even if the road wasn't too slippery-and i definitely know how to drive in snow-it really wasn't a really good idea to go out on the road at all because you could hardly see anything what with the snow falling and being blown by strong winds all over the place. yep,a typical nor'easter) so i planned to go to bed early,around midnight and by that time i was pretty bored so it wasn't a big problem to motivate myself to tuck in early. to my surprise,i didn't have too much trouble falling asleep. so anyway it wasn't quite so horrible getting up at 8!
and...the snow was only up to my knees...so,what,14-16 inches,which is better than hip deep,which would be couple of feet!
we didnt get any snow last winter,i don't think,which i loved. but the year before that we got two storms back to back in march i think,and we got really buried...i had to dig through to get to the door of my car.
anyhow,the cool thing about cars these days is that most have at least front wheel drive and you don't even need snow tires to get out of the snow that piles around you,in general.i shoveled in front of my car and near the two front tires a bit on the side,and no problem,drove right out of there even with snow packed all 'round the rest of the car.i just love that because years ago before i had a car with front wheel drive i'd sometimes get stuck even with snow tires. the tires would spin and spin...that can still occasionally happen but it's pretty rare.
well,all this is just so exciting. not.but i like to babble through the keyboard at times anyway.
so,it's boxing day. i won't get a box because i didn't wait on any rich people yesterday and hurray for that!
