my musical tastes

here's a music survey i did at the end of '00. (hmmm, that looks weird.) i think if i took it today i'd answer pretty much the same except my favorite female vocalist might be mary dillon who was with deanta or mairead ni mhaonaigh of altan.

i find i get bored reading or answering surveys because they're too long.so i snagged this one and i'm gonna abridge it.
i'm just going to answer the questions i feel like answering.yes,i'm a rebel without a pause...heh.

What are your thoughts on:
Punk:i like the do it yourself thing, but playing fast irritates me...
Country:i like the newer country rock stuff

R & B: i like a lot of the stuff i heard in the 60's,motown,etc,but i rarely buy it
Rap:hate it
Classical:i rarely want to listen to it.it's too...removed and soulless,at least to my ears...maybe i'm listening to the wrong classical stuff...i know beethoven isn't soulless...but it's too hoity toity for me. i like raggeder stuff, which is why i like to see a live band who takes chances and screws up,and why i looooved the replacements.
Disco: it can be fun if i'm in the mood,if i have some memories attached!
Jazz:i like the old stuff, jazz piano and big bands, but not the newer stuff
Blues:yeah, when i'm in the mood for it.
Pop:i love a good pop song,but loathe bad ones...good=beatles,bad=britney

p.s.
i realized that the category of "folk' was not included in the survey i just did.because i surely would have said something about that.i like some folk music.
my favorite is probably scottish and irish folk music to listen to.i love tin whistle, the uillean (irish) pipes, and fiddles.but i also like the politics and spirit behind a lot of folk music.stuff by woody guthrie (the full lyrics to 'this land is your land" would never be allowed to be sung by children in schools) and pete seeger and joan baez...for some reason,i developed a dislike for joan's voice in the past few years.i don't know why,but i'm sure i can get over it.if i can listen to tom waits and bob dylan, surely i can listen to joan.
i've got an itch in my back that is that very section that you can't reach either way unless you have monkey arms, which i don't...
ah,well, most itches go away if they don't drive you to insanity first...
