they say it's my birthday...
happy birthday to me!
i'm bored,but at least i'm relaxed.
actually got to see the sun today,a welcome visitor that has been away for many days now...though we just had a good soaking rainstorm again!
in lieu of actually doing anything,i've had a nice quiet day mostly at home. went to the bank, grocery store and library, where mostly i returned the stacks of things i've borrowed in the last two weeks and didn't read! imagine,i've had a week off and i've hardly read anything, nor did i get many domestic chores done that need t be done. oh,well...i did watch tons of movies!
not that i'll win any prizes for that.
this morning i got a bunch of cards in the mail...from my sisters and their families. two sisters sent checks too. also got a card from my friend lisa in arizona...she sent a neat maya angelou card. mia sent me a beautiful ecard and i also got some other wellwishes from my friends via the internet, thank you!
mom gave me a card and ten bucks, even though i told her to just get me a card. she hardly has any money.my sister sara was here this evening as she was having car problems and was dropping off her car at the mechanics and borrowing mom's car. she said she would have gotten me something chocolate but she knew it made me sick. hey,it's the thought that counts.
dad gave me $1,000. he's given all his daughters that for birthdays the past two years or so,since he sold his house. he said that should help me out for awhile, and indeed it will. i've been flabberghasted to get that as a gift, and the last couple of times i've put it in the bank. that's partly why i have savings...when i used to make enough money to pay my bills,i used to put twenty bucks into savings every week. anyhow, that will help me pay my car repair and doctor bills (it cost about $60 just for the blood test for h.pylori, the virus that causes some ulcers...i have insurance, but i have to pay $200 deductible before they even start paying a percentage of the bills, and it costs me $520 a year for medical insurance.that's probably cheap, but that means i have to pay at least $720 a year to get a percentage of anything paid. i love the fact that i,like so many other workers, are so well paid by our oversalaried lords...not. i make $17,000 a year working full-time. anyhow, besides paying those bills, that gift will keep me going for another six weeks. i need to make about $100 more dollars a week to make ends meet.
well,how boring.
i started watching woody allen's 'love and death' which is funny but i guess i'm just antsy. so that's why i'm writing here instead of watching that!
i'm looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. i hope my corner of the workplace has not been too trashed...sometimes i've been out for just one day and it gets messy...it could be really interesting after ten days! i'd better bring a shovel and take a dose of soma before i get to work!
