act naturally
Jul. 10th, 2004 11:03 ama couple of interesting quotes from user info page of
metacontext:
A maxim of technology is that failures reveal underlying mechanism. A good way to learn how something works is to push it to failure. The way it fails will usually tell you a lot about how it works.
-Trevor Blackwell
And how shall I reconcile Art Magick with that Way of the Tao which achieveth all Things by doing nothing? Thou canst do no Magick save it be thy Nature to do Magick - which is the true Nothing for thee.
For to do nothing signifieth to interfere with nothing so that for a Magician to do no Magick is to commit Violence on himself. Yet learn also that all Action is in some sense Magick, being an essential Part of that Great Magical Work which we call Nature.
-Aleister Crowley
the second quote particularly applies to an old entry of mine dated october of last year where i had an interesting lj discussion on reconciling the ideas of 'going with the flow' and being proactive. i don't tend to peruse stuff by crowley, because i don't feel qualified to separate the wheat from the chaff,so i occasionally read things by others ABOUT his ideas.
the beatles 'act naturally' has been in my head the last couple of days, which i think is kind of apropo.
oh,and very cosmic,of course.
edit:added link to referenced prior discussion for anyone who is interested.
